The excavator three-way valve is a key component in the hydraulic system of the excavator, which is mainly responsible for controlling the flow direction of the oil circuit and realizing the different working states of the hydraulic cylinder or motor. Three-way valves typically have three interfaces, one for the pressure source, one for the actuator (e.g. hydraulic cylinder or motor) and one for the oil return circuit.

During the operation of the excavator, the operator instructs the three-way valve to switch to different working positions through the control handle, thereby changing the flow path of the oil. For example, when the three-way valve is switched to a specific position, the pressure oil can be delivered from the pump to one side of the cylinder, pushing the piston rod to extend, while the oil from the other side of the cylinder flows back into the tank through the three-way valve to complete a working cycle. Conversely, when the three-way valve is switched to another position, the piston rod can be retracted.

The design of the 3-way valve must ensure that it is well sealed to prevent oil leakage and that it has sufficient compressive strength to withstand the operating pressure of the system.
